Mixed Media Photography
A lot of times we get focused on the one type of media that we are working on at that specific moment.
If we are painting we paint
If we are drawing we draw
If we are taking photos we take photos
For this project we are going to use a mix of media. String and photos.
Ok, so you're like "But we can do this in Photoshop!"
Then I was like not really. The differences are is that the photo is still its own thing and the string is its own thing.
The string creates a real texture with real shadows. The string also gets the artist involved in a hands on way.
It gets the artist looking at their own art in a different way too. In Photoshop if you don't like it or you mess up, you can delete the layer.
Doing things this way the artist is committed to the task and if there is a mistake it will show with a small hole. Not the end of the world
but it is the truth.

The Project
Find a photo that you really like
Usually they work better in black and white, so make it black and white. The string will add color to the image
Share it with me in the student share folder
Wait for me to get them printed
When we get them back now the fun starts.
Paste it to poster board to give it strength
Draw what you are going to embroider on your photo

Next start adding the sting. You can add details that are not part of the image.
NOTE:
If you are going to do sharpie (Paint not allowed because we are not in a room suitable for it, unless you do it at home) I recommend you brainstorm and figure out your idea before you start.
Once you have your ideas all figured start committing and start working
You will be graded on creativity and use of material. Did you take a risk? Did you really explore?
